Talk Title: Harnessing Big Data to Drive Policy and Public Health Responses: Examples from Ebola and Zika virus Epidemics

Abstract:
The world has seen several infectious epidemics over the past decade, fueled by our inter-connectivity via global travel patterns. Dr. Bogoch discusses how we can integrate large data sources with an understanding of infectious diseases biology, epidemiology, and public health to predict and mitigate epidemics. He gives examples from the recent Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa, and the current Zika virus epidemic to demonstrate these principles.
