Biography:
Evelyn Depoortere, MD, MPH, is a medical doctor, trained in tropical medicine and international public health. She has several years of field experience in humanitarian emergencies and outbreak investigations, with “Médecins Sans Frontières” and Epicentre. At the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), she was in charge of the outbreak response activities within the Surveillance and Response Support unit until end 2011. This experience was followed by few years at the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, providing policy support to the Belgian development cooperation and managing several strategic international health projects. Evelyn is currently working as a scientific officer in the European Commission, DG Research and Innovation, where she manages infectious diseases and global health related projects.
