Biography:
Pierre-Louis has an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Paris Ouest. After a brief spell in IT in the private sector, he moved to humanitarian work in 2007, initially with the Cooperation Française and then Action Against Hunger in Niger. In 2011 he fulfilled a longstanding dream to join MSF and worked in the field in several contexts including Chad, DRC, Haiti and Burundi. In 2016 he was appointed to lead the new eHealth Unit in MSF Brussels, managing a team of 12 people and a diverse portfolio comprising Health Information Systems, Electronic Medical Record, Geographic Information Systems and an eHealth application incubator, which are deployed in more than 30 countries.
Abstract:
MSF works in a wide range of environments, meaning that the type of health activities run by the organisation varies substantially from one place to another: paediatrics, maternal care, HIV, non-communicable diseases… This also impacts upon the priorities of the requirements of software designed to support the clinicians who run the activities in the field.
We will present an app designed to run multi-antigen mass vaccination campaigns which was tested in 2016 in Central African Republic, and a patient flow management tool currently being deployed in an ambulatory therapeutic treatment centre in Northern Nigeria.
