Information for speakers

Oral presentations

All oral presentations will be allotted 20 minutes in total. Talks should be no longer 15 minutes, allowing for 5 minutes of questions at the end. Powerpoint facilities will be provided.

Speakers need to arrive 15 minutes before the start of their session, in order to meet the session chair and upload their presentation. This is essential, to ensure that the sessions run to time. Please note – there will be time for this after the keynote and before the 11am sessions.

Information regarding session speakers, chairs, and rooms can be found in the detailed programme.

Posters and demos

Poster Format
Posters should be printed off at A0 size (portrait) and you will be supplied with a poster board and pins on the day of the poster session. We are also holding a virtual poster/demo event where posters will be uploaded to flickr and then featured on the conference website. We would therefore request that you email us an image file of the poster (jpeg or png format) to by Monday the 11th of May.

Demo Format
If you have submitted a demo, please contact the Poster/Demo Chair (Dr Ed de Quincey at with your requirements. If you have a video of your demonstration then please email it to by Monday the 11th of May so that it can be included in our virtual poster/demo event.

Poster and Demo Sessions
We will be having 2 parts to the poster/demo event at the conference.

1. There will be a dedicated session at the conference where you will have 5 minutes to talk about your work. We would request that you do not prepare slides for this as we plan to project the image of your poster.
2. There will then be a standard poster/demo session (with refreshments) where you will stand with your poster/demo and talk with delegates. We will be attempting a simple form of “gamification” to encourage discussion and interaction (more details about this at the session itself).
