Dr Edward Fottrell is an epidemiologist with expertise in maternal and neonatal health, health measurement, intervention research and population surveillance data processes. With a background in biomedical sciences, a Masters in Public Health and a PhD in epidemiology, much of Ed’s research focusses on the challenges of measuring mortality and morbidity needed for public health monitoring, evaluation and planning in resource-poor settings. Ed has provided technical oversight for a cluster randomised controlled trial of maternal and child health interventions in Bangladesh, has experience of working in several Health and Demographic Surveillance Sites in Africa, and supports projects in several resource-poor countries, including India, Nepal and Malawi.
