PhD Track Submissions

Digital Health PhD Track & Health Challenge

Call for Participation

Digital Health (DH), taking place in Montreal, Canada on April 11-13, 2016, is a multidisciplinary event to foster research collaborating in this emerging and very relevant area of research.  DH is aiming to inspire early stage researchers developing a career in this field. The PhD Student Track is designing to provide high quality feedback to doctoral students by offering an opportunity to students of presenting their work to a group of mentors and peers. The track will include a Health Challenge designed for students to network and have a hands-on learning experience.

How to Participate

In order to participate in the PhD Student Track, the students can:

(1) submit regular papers to any main DH track and indicate in the submission system that they want to present at the PhD Track as well, or

(2) submit an extended abstract (2 pages including figures and citations) of an ongoing work.

The submissions should indicate the stage of the PhD (e.g. early stage, preparation of viva/defense) and should follow general DH submission guidelines and ACM 2 column formatting. Contributions are sought regardless of the stage of the research project, from both information/technology and medical/health fields. We especially encourage the students who are in the process of forming their doctoral research, as they may benefit the most from feedback at an early stage. A panel of experts will review the submissions and accepted contributions will be presented in the conference and published in ACM Digital Library as Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Digital Health 2016. The top student presentations will be selected for award consideration.

Health Challenge

An opportunity to network and learn, the Health Challenge will involve a brainstorming and design session supported by mentors from a variety of fields. Provided with resources, including social media data, prototyping tutorial, and expert mentoring, the participants will design cross-disciplinary applications, analyses and research directions. In particular, support for data-driven research exploration as well as gamification will provide students with several exciting directions to pursue. The best design will be selected for an award.
